First of all, welcome to the new world of big al.

Allow me to introduce you to “Party AL.” Friday and Saturday nights I was partying as “ghetto man.” Rolling around in limos, RV’s, Halloween parties, shopping for things to add to my costume, up in the penthouse at the ritz carlton hotel. The next morning, on the patio having Sunday-funday while watching football.

Now please meet “Daddy AL.” this al was up last night until 11pm trying to offer help on a Theology project that was assigned to his son on Friday of last week but apparently didn’t seem important until about 8pm last night… the night before its due! Shopping at target for poster board, coming up with different ideas for the presentation, taping, gluing, cutting out pictures, doing everything that is possible to help my son use his brain to be creative.

Now, please meet businessman and grown-up al. this al yesterday met with the general contractor, plumber and sheet rock guy to get started on a rental property that I just bought a month ago. He’ll be at homew depot today, buying a bathtub, a kitchen sink and fixtures. He will be Picking out colors for paint work through out the house; trying to visualize what to do with this house to make it rentable to some person that is going to be in need of a roof over his or her head. (by the way, I will be posting pics of this project just in case anyone wants to follow along on the progress.)

dscn0279.jpgdscn0280.jpgdscn0291.jpg

Then there is work out al. this al went to an aerobic class yesterday only to realize he may have less rhythm than most 24 year old white girls. He has no skill whatsoever when it comes to “kicking!” but this al needs to get in shape if he wants to run in the 8 mile turkey trot on thankgiving morning and in a half marathon in the 2nd week of December.

And finally, meet Lawn Boy AL. this al will be at his mom’s house immediately following the show today, mowing, edging, blowing and sweeping! This al has the least amount of fun!

HEY PARTY AL, see ya Friday!!!

Im not gonna bore you with a whole lot of dribble today. I’ll just say that in my laziness, I decided to just look around the house for some odds and ends to wear for Halloween and I came up with an outfit that really didn’t have much of a theme. So I just called myself, “ghetto man!”

A wig, big platform shoes, a red bra, a red cape, you know… just the normal stuff any normal guy has laying around the house. Anyway, we partied like rock stars for the whole weekend and here are a few of the pics.

…and don’t forget. Send me an email and let me know why you deserve to go out with us on the “single parents night out..”

ahhh memories!

I am fortunate enough sometime to have the opportunity to be able to go to “movie premier’s or screenings” a lot of times because of my job. And last night was one of those nights. But the only problem was “American Gangster” was expected to be really crowded. And the movie people wanted everyone there by 7pm.  Well, what made this a problem was the fact that payton doesn’t get dropped of f by the late bus until 6:50p. so dad jumped into action. I packed up a fresh shirt and a towel and off I went to pick him up. His bus drops him off at a huge book store. So I really didn’t see anything wrong with him going into the bathroom of the bookstore with his towel in one hand, his shirt in the other, and him taking a quick bird bath in the bathroom and then we would hurry off to the movie! Really wasn’t so passive about my plan.

But after a quick talk about how the kids in AFRICA barely have running water, he finally went in to do his thing. He took the quick bird bath and off we went to the movie.

I wonder if this will be one of those things that my son will remember for the rest of his life!!!

Have a great weekend.

So, im pulling into my lunch restaurant yesterday, and I get a phone call from a guy that was going to be doing some work for me at a vacant rental house that I just bought and he tells me that someone has broken into the house. I race over there to find the walls had been busted out.. the sink had been destroyed in the bathroom, the wall behind the shower, the cabinets under the sink in the kitchen… all for maybe $200 worth of copper.

Burglars suck! And this is how stupid burglars are. The busted out the glass part of the back door, stuck their thieving hand in and unlocked the door. But the dumba$$ burglar apparently didn’t look five feet to the left to see that the kitchen window had previously been broken out and he could have freaking climbed in.

Here’s the kicker though. Apparently, when my contractor guy went into the house, he either scared the thief away or maybe the guy was taking a break. Because, all of the copper that he had jacked from the walls of my house, was in two boxes sitting in the kitchen. And so was the thieves’ bag of burglary tools. So, you know what I did???  I stole his tools… I put the bag of tools into my car along with all of my (almost) stolen copper. So I hope it doesn’t make me a thief to have stolen tools from a thief… but, so that the burglar would know what happened to his stuff, I did the right thing. I left him a note. It read:

“Dear mr. thief. You are an dumb***. You tried to take my SHI*, so I took yours! See, I told you you’re a dumba***. GET A F’ING JOB!

If you would like to get your stuff back, feel free to call me at 1-800-543-3548 between 6 and 10am tomorrow.

Kidd Kraddick”

Haha, just kidding. I signed my name. and I left him my cell # as well.

I’ll let you know if he calls. Wouldn’t it be a trip if he called the police on me for stealing his tools?

Ok, November 10, im gonna host a few people to an evening out. 10 people to be exact. Not just 10 people, 10 single parents. Im shooting for 5 guys and 5 girls but we’ll see how it works out. But you do have to be a single parent. And don’t you think I wont come to your house and check, because I will. Im kinda planning this on the fly so bear with me. And the 10 people part will probably be just the dinner portion that I pay for. We will party afterwards and whover wants to come to that part is more than welcome.

And it doesn’t matter where you live. We will fly a few people in so write me a letter and tell me why you, as a single parent, need a night out and we’ll see what happens.

Here’s the brief itinerary. We will start out at my favorite casual dinning spot, PRIMOS.

We’ll have dinner there on me, but you will have to pay for your own drinks. Then we’ll get in a limo and roll to the next spot. A club called LIFT. We will have a table there and they do have a dance floor so we’ll “CRANK ‘DAT” for a while. This place is kinda trendy and is where some of the pretty people hang out. Im just saying that so you know how to dress. Assuming we are having a good time there, we’ll stay there for the night. If not, we’ll head to CANDLEROOM. Im still debating whether or not we get a hotel suite for the “after-after” party or if we just call it a night at that point. And for those who don’t have to catch a flight back home the next morning, we will do brunch Sunday morning back where it all started, at PRIMOS!

If this interests you, email me at al@theplanet.com and let me know why you need a single parents night out!

See ya soon.

If you work on the radio, and you mention that you met a supermodel that was just “average” on the hotness scale, you probably don’t want to give her the website where she can listen to that audio.

Will I ever grow out of my stupidity? DON’T ANSWER THAT!

If you haven’t been following along, I met this supermodel over the weekend. And I would love to be the guy that says, yeah, I met this hottie and she was totally digging me.. but that wasn’t the case AT ALL! Firstly, she was just average hotness! As kellie said, she got way hotter after everybody told me that she was a supermodel!

Secondly, we may have talked for a grand total of about 5 minutes. Anyway, apparently some of her friends must have casually mentioned that I talked about meeting her on the air. No big deal, right? So they gave her my number and she called me to see if I mentioned her charity. I didn’t, but I will now. Its sunflowerchildren.org for those of you that are interested. Anyway, in telling her the story about how we joked about her accent and her dancing the night away with my buddy andy, I gave her our website so that she could listen to the segment on our kpod. Its all good, right? Wrong!

I went to the kpod myself to listen to the segment and 1 minute into my story in the “story guy” segment, I hear myself saying that the supermodel that I met was “not that hot!” or average hotness or something… I really want to block this out of my mind. As soon as I heard what I said, knowing that I just gave her the website so she could hear it herself, I just screamed! Yes, I have driven a supermodel into a depression… I bet she wont eat for a week!!! Duh! She’s a model! J she wasn’t going to eat anyway!

Helena Houdova, you’re a really hot supermodel!!! Good luck with my buddy Andy!

Meanwhile, I’ll still be an idiot!

No, we’re not out of the woods yet but we do seem to be moving in the right direction. First of all, thanks to all of you that left a comment from my last entry regarding my son payton. I never thought I was experiencing something that so many parents go through in one way or another.

But as I mentioned in the weekend rap up, things are going a little better. payton and I had a “stand off” the other night. I wanted him to do something. he didn’t want to do it. So we just were stuck. Then, after 30 minutes or so, something clicked with him and he did eventually apologize. Our make up hug was really special.

Im sure there are going to be more tough days to come but it was GREAT to have an attitude free weekend.

So, im at a club with some of my friends Saturday night and sitting there, on a couch by herself is this blond girl. At first glance, she didn’t appear to be any hotter than several girls in the “pretty people” club. But, since she was the only thing between me and the bottle of vodka on the coffee table I took that as an opportunity to get to know her. So, I tried to strike up a conversation with her. The only problem was the girl was Czech. And with the music blasting, and her accent, I could barely understand a word she was saying.

BUT SHE WAS HOT, SO I TRIED!!! J yes, I know I have a girlfriend.. I wasn’t trying to hookup. I was doing what I do. I came to the party alone and I was talking to the other alone person…

Anyway, after he 2 minute conversation with the Czech girl that went something like this:

Me: so whats your name?

Hot Czech girl: theuehnf tiuehfjkow owijnofinwoni

Me: really, that’s a pretty name.. where are you from

Hot Czech girl: ojkdfniuwenwf owerihgowen pwnefwnefo

Me: aww ok, ive always wanted to go there. By the way, you’re hot!

Hot Czech girl: pwoej2 kmdfkm cvmk’rm[weop m[e’kimg[kr

Me: well, it was nice talking to you. Im gonna go over there and say hi to my friends.. but I’ll be checking you out… cause you’re hot!

Hot Czech girl:lkcd owdmvk 0945u fkwokdf ow owmi!

So after this insightful, in depth, conversation, I got up and went to talk to my friends.

One of my friends said, how’d that go for ya? I said, she’s hot but I couldn’t understand a word she said. Then my friend says, “ you know who that is right?”

That’s Helena houdova… she’s an international supermodel!

Just as was about to go let her know who she was, my friend andy grabbed her hand, took her to the dance floor and I don’t think they ever came back!

All I could say was: pkomdfpokwm wiomfkwmfp kfmoim irod,!

Im having trouble wrapping my brain around this idea but I think its actually true.

I think my son is eternally mad at me. In fact, I think he’s so mad at me that he may never get over it. Does he have happy moments? Yes. But they are few and far between.

Have we talked about it? Yes… well, I talked. He kinda sat there! What is he mad at? Well, lets see. He’s 16 years old and I just within the last 3 years reached out and began a relationship with him. 3 months ago, i moved him 1000 miles away from his home with his mom and younger brother and all of his friends.

I have enrolled him into a private school that requires him to study and study hard to make decent grades. I have been in constant contact with all of his teachers by phone or email checking his progress.

There’s more but I guess I wont bore you with the complete details.

After typing this and reading back over it, im thinking to myself maybe he should be eternally mad at me!

The bottom line is, more often than not, he has one or two word answers to my questions. His attitude is that of a person that is upset almost all of the time, at least around me. He comes home after school most days and closes his bedroom door and aside from him coming out to eat for a few minutes, I probably don’t see him until the next afternoon when I pick him up and we do it all over again.

Since Im not there when he wakes up, I leave him a note every morning with an inspirational few words. Something to get his day started and maybe serve as something he could feed off of for the day. And to be honest, I doubt if he even reads them.

Is it possible that a kid would do really poorly and not try in school as a way to try to punish the parent or to get back at them? I think that may be at least part of whats happening. Ive told him that if that’s what he’s trying to do, he’s hurting himself waaay more than he’s hurting me. But honestly, I don’t know if that’s the truth. It hurts me down deep to know that if he doesn’t turn things around, theres no telling how things are going to end up for him. And it hurts even more to know that these are all results of me not manning up way back 16 years ago.

The ups and down of daddy hood continue. The weekend seemed to fly by as all of the events came and went just as fast. As far as payton is concerned, it is back to business.

He is really going to have to work hard to finish up this semester in a way that is satisfactory- grade wise! He decided on his own that it would be a good idea to drop football for at least the time being; So that he could spend more time focusing on his schoolwork. Hopefully, that will help free him up to do what needs to be done.

Something a little different, (in a good way), happened last night. My next door neighbors came over to my house last night. It was 9pm and I had knocks on my front door and back door at the same time. Bartendica had a book that belonged to payton at her house and he had called her to bring it over. And my next door neighbors had come home from a night out to eat and they saw my lights on in my house. I opened the door, let them in and I was almost like, “whats wrong?”

They were just being neighborly. I had just walked in the house from grocery shopping and I had bags all over the kitchen, my house was a mess, clothes on the pool table… and here come the neighbors. Don’t get me wrong. They are cool people. They moved down here from Maryland and they have had more “incidents” since they moved down here.

First, someone tossed a bottle filled with gas and a rag into their Ford excursion and caught it on fire. They had a bike stolen from the back of their house. Their other SUV was broken into about a month ago. And I think there was something else. I lost track!

It almost makes me think that this dude, I wont say his name, is in the CIA or something.

There is something very mysterious about them. He is in and out of town a lot. But im not really sure what he does! Hmmm…I wonder! Could he be a spy? And could all of these things that happen to him be little warnings that he is getting a little too close to the bad guys???

If they don’t turn out to be secret agent spies, then they are more than welcome to come by my house anytime they want. They are nice people that are cool to hang out with.

What a weekend!

Posted in Uncategorized on October 15, 2007 by kiddlive

What a weekend! Lets summarize. The Friday night kinzie party was a lot of fun. We partied, danced and got our drink on… in fact we partied so hard it caused us to get our butts kicked Saturday morning on the flag football field. Wow! It was embarrassing.
I don’t think we even scored.

But that was soon forgotten because then it was time to get ready for payton’s homecoming dance. E didn’t know that I had a surprise in store for him. Here’s the story.
I was supposed to drive them to the dance but I rented him a limo for the night and the plan was for me to ride with them to eat dinner and then drop them off so that’s what we did. Somewhere along the line, I invited kellie to ride with us as my date. Also, payton’s date, Jessica, was bringing her niece that is a freshman at the same school. So we all went to dinner and actually had a great time. Kellie and I went in the dance for a few minutes. Just long enough to look around and see the set up.

Then, we thought we would take advantage of having a limo and being dressed up so we hit the town. We ended up at the brand new RITZ CARLTON hotel bar and we ran into a small group that I knew. we had drinks there until it was time to pick up the kids.

The next day I was fortunate enough to get a hookup to go to the game. In the third quarter I was hooked up even more by being invited to hang out in the owners suite.
Hanging out with the owner of the DALLAS COWBOYS is always fun but its a lot more fun when we win and yesterday, we didn’t. BUT, I did meet three celebrities.

NAME DROP ALERT!!!

Michael Irvin was there!
Of course Mr Jerry Jones was there and his beautiful wife.
Eva Longoria was sitting right in front of me.
Tony Parker was sitting next to her.
AND I MET THE FREAKING PRESIDENT OF MEXICO, VINCENTE FOX!!!

This was truly the highlight of my weekend. I cant tell you why but this was so cool to me. Way cooler than meeting eva or tony. I MET THE FREAKIN PRESIDENT OF A COUNTRY! Ok, former president… but that’s still cool!

Check out the pics from the homecoming dance as well as me with a huge STUPID SMILE ON MY FACE as im standing next to MR. PRESIDENT!
