Yesterday, as I was on my way to my moms house, I happened to look into my rear view mirror and I saw what appeared to be a pickup truck going perpendicular to the traffic on the freeway. Then a bobtail truck hit the pick up, knocking it around facing the opposite direction and into the concrete median. Then another car hit the truck and the car behind that car rear ended that car. It felt like I was watching a movie. It was almost an outer body experience. This accident involved 4 out of the five lanes of traffic. and then i thought about the drivers and passengers in those cars and said a short prayer for them.

those people’s lives changed in a second.

I don’t think I have laughed as hard at myself as I did yesterday.  I was going thru some old stuff at my moms house and I ran across a tape. A cassette tape. On this tape is audio from when I attended a broadcasting school. This way before I was ever on the radio. It was even before I owned a limo service.… which has been a lifetime ago. Make sure you are listening tomorrow to hear this…

Also, while at my moms house, in another drawer I found a kazillion cards. Mothers day cards, fathers day cards, birthday cards, every card I think my parents have ever received, EVER! It was so cool to see with my own eyes how much this stuff means to my mom.

I love you mommie!

  1. I am one of those that save cards too. I happened to go through my cards about five years ago and found a birthday card signed by my grandma and grandpa. Why is this special? My Papa Ed died when I was 3 years old.

Good luck on the bar. I pray it will be a great success! When it is, I hope you don’t leave the morning show. I love you and Kellie and Kidd. You always start my day with a smile.

  2. Once I was driving on the highway and trafic was stopped in front of me due to an accident ahead. As I slowed I noticed the car a few hundred yards in front of me slam into a stopped 18 wheeler at full speed. They never saw that trafic was stopped ahead of them. I found out later that it was an 80 year old man and woman and I still wonder about it to this day. Did they see the truck a moment too late. Were they talking to each other and that’s why they didn’t notice. It was a very tramatic thing to witness. Everyone stopped and got out of their cars but there were obviously no survivors. The car was under the 18 wheeler with only the trunk sticking out.

  3. Al,

My most frightening and proudest achievement was shutting down the George Washington Bridge just before morning rush hour when I was accidentally heading into New Jersey (well who goes there on purpose?) and hit the Black Ice, did what they say to do in driving school which is lay off the brake and turn into the spin, when I was hit from behind by a semi and spun around to face oncoming traffic. Then I watched what you described – car hits car hits car hits car, etc. Thank the traffic gods nobody was hurt, we all ended up at Port Authority drinking bad coffee and waiting for loved ones to pick us up. Although since it was my Dad’s car, I wasn’t in the “loved ones” category when he picked me up.

  4. Aw, Al your last comment “I love you mommie” literally made me tear up. How sweet is that?

It’s funny how the older we get, the more we realize how much we love our parents. Cherish them while they’re here and listen to whatever lesson it is that God sent them here to teach you.

    Blessings!
